The
mental Factor in Meditation
Part
II
The mental Factor
Much people are meditating but only a view has a secure refugee in
which they can find peace and security in their hearts.
Sometimes can meditation provoke a mental state of fear or drive
gradually to a higher level of anxiety - that's why has meditation not
to be practiced in an easy way like it where a joke.
What can a person that has no secure refugee do in such moments?
In such cases, a not existing refugee can provoke a mental instability
if the level of anxiety experienced is very high.
Since between the monks some of them were searching a refugee in the
forest or temples or elsewhere, Buddha indicates two kinds of refugees
used from people generally, as posses of material things or the
protection of churches or sacred temples.
Between these two, the material person has the more vein refugee,
because which material thing has duration forever without changing or
deteriorating?
Religious people instead have a more secure refugee but not a pure one,
because it is conceived as external from them self's.
Even the highest concept of God if it is thought in every case like
"Other", like external, cannot be said a secure and supreme refugee.
A secure refugee can only be found inside your own purified heart, and
the heart becomes only purified through meditation.
For who meditates, as more he has practiced as more peace he finds in
his heart.
But such peace can be disturbed from the changing of external
conditions or from emotional crisis - and in that way it is not at your
disposition if it is needed.
It's not useful to have peace in your heart only if everything goes
perfect.
The only secure and indestructible refugee is based upon the wisdom you
acquire through meditation.
Wisdom means to go beyond, and not to cover, the contaminations like
longing, aversion and illusion - the three roots of insanity.
If they're eradicated without the possibility of rebirth then will
there be a secure refugee.
The complete eradication of these three roots of insanity leads to a
complete comprehension of the Four Noble Truth, in the way that there
will be a direct consciousness of the process through which Dukkha (the
problems, the sufferings) arises from those roots. If Dukkha do not
have anymore power over the heart, how could it ever become
disturbed?
Only this can be said a secure refugee!
Now, to belief in a religion and maintain a not verifiable faith is an
obstacle for the developing of wisdom.
Buddha defines such a faith "without roots", because it is not rooted
in wisdom-consciousness. Buddha teaches to not belief, and this
practice comprehending also the meditation, is essential.
The ignorance (of the Four Nobel Truth) goes hand in hand with the
faith in not verifiable ideas and concepts. When arises the vision that
such ignorance originates and depends from Dukkha will it become
destroyed, in the way that there will be vision and consciousness
coming not from books or masters, from Buddha or else ones.
The way of Buddha contains the teachings to go above, over yourself, to
break with affections, not only to earthy things but also to states of
meditation, to celestial pleasure and at least to being a Buddhist.
In this way is it possible to "go in the refugee" demonstrating so to
be an follower of Buddha and assuming the three refugees of Buddha, of
Dhamma and of Shangha, as the treasures of major value in the world.
Buddha was a living human demonstrating to humans what is possible for
humans to arrive to.
